# What is a workspace?
A **workspace** in MeetingTrack is the digital environment of a **company, organization, association or group** in which people collaborate. Think of a workspace as the central place where all meetings, minutes, tasks and participants of your team or organization come together.
A workspace can be, for example:
- A company (such as a marketing agency or IT company)
- A department within a larger organization
- An association or foundation
- A project team or temporary collaboration
- A club or committee
## 🔑 Characteristics of a workspace
- Each workspace has its **own participants, settings, meetings, tasks**
- **Licenses and billing** are arranged per workspace
- Within a workspace you can **organize meetings, take minutes and manage tasks**
- Users can be members of **multiple workspaces** at the same time (e.g. work + volunteer work)
A workspace is therefore the place where collaboration within your organization takes shape — clear, structured and centrally arranged.
## 👥 Join a workspace
You can be invited to a workspace by an administrator, or create one yourself.
If you are active in multiple organizations, you can easily switch between workspaces with your own account.
> 📌 **Note:** you only need one MeetingTrack license, even if you are a member of multiple workspaces.
